Two Benefits of Getting a Roof Basket if You Have Young Kids

If you have young kids, a roof basket is a great purchase to make. Read on to learn why.

You can store items on the roof basket that you don't want your children to handle

One of the many benefits of putting a roof basket on your car is that you can put items in it that you don't want your children to handle when you're driving around with them. For example, if you buy a gift for someone on your way to their home and your kids are with you, leaving this item with them in the backseat might result in them grabbing it, trying to tear it open or spilling their drinks on it. Putting this item in the roof basket would ensure that your kids could not damage it before you get a chance to hand it to the recipient.

Likewise, if you buy some potted plants for your garden and you know your children will grab the stems, pull off the leaves or pick the flowers if they are left alone with these plants in the backseat, you could put them on the roof basket (with a cover to stop the wind from damaging them) to keep them out of your children's hands.

Having a safe spot like this in the car (particularly when your boot is full of groceries or if the boot is accessible via the backseat and your kids could, therefore, access items you put inside it) will mean journeys with your children won't be quite as challenging, even on the days when they are misbehaving.

You can travel around with your children's bulkiest items far more easily

When you have young kids, you often end up having to take bulky items with you when you go anywhere with them. You might, for instance, need to take their stroller or their tricycle when you're taking them out to explore a park or some public gardens for the day. Often, putting these items inside the car is a challenge and results in everyone in the vehicle having to sit hunched up to avoid being poked by the handles of the tricycle or the wheels of the folded stroller. Aside from making everyone in the vehicle uncomfortable, it might also be hazardous, as someone might get struck by a component if one of these items falls or moves when you're driving.

Furthermore, if on your drive home from these places, your children can access their tricycle or stroller after its wheels have been covered in dust and bacteria from the ground, your kids might then grab the wheels and transfer the dust and microbes to their car seat, the car windows or the upholstery. If you have a roof basket, however, you can put these bigger items on it and travel around comfortably and hygienically without these items posing a safety risk to anyone inside the car.
